If you have a US high school diploma or GED, or if you graduated from a US high school within the last 10 years, your English placement is ENGL 1A or EMLS 10. To see your English placement, log in to your Student Portal. You can see how your English placement is calculated here.
If you need help deciding whether ENGL 1A or EMLS 10 is the right level for you, please meet with an academic counselor.
If you do not have a US high school diploma or GED and would like to take an EMLS class, click here to begin the EMLS Guided Self-Placement.
This self-assessment tool walks you through several step to help you select the class level that is right for you. Within 24 hours after completing the Guided Self-Placement, you can view the level you selected in your Student Portal and register for classes during your registration date. Log in to your Student Portal to see your registration date, under "Priority Registration Status".
If you do not see the class level you selected in your Student Portal after 24 hours, please contact Assessment Services at 707-527-4661 (Santa Rosa Campus) or 707-778-3908 (Petaluma Campus).
